One of the problems of the consumerist society is that there is too much light everywhere you go. Lights are put in place by people who have no thought for whether they're actually needed and they often make it more difficult for others to see where they're going. In some places, lights like this will be useful, but mostly they will be bought and implemented for no reason other than because the purchaser can afford to, and thus will feed consumerism.
