The 5mph is the problem. Coastal waters regularly have currents that exceed 5mph. That doesn’t even consider wind speeds. This would be nice for a small lake or pond.

Yes, Dick, that’s true that it has a six hour charge, but if a headwind got up you’d have a difficult time getting in to land, especially with that solar array acting like a giant sail. 5 mpg isn’t that fast. It’s about a 1 horsepower motor there. Best to only operate this craft in very protected waters. Swimming pools, bath tubs and the like.

@Selene: It says quite clearly that the battery holds a 6-hour charge. I imagine it would be difficult to get stranded anywhere unless you couldn’t read a fuel gauge.
