Solar Powered Silent Boat

Safe, clean, quiet, effortless to operate, virtually-maintenance free, and requiring minimal nautical knowledge, this is perhaps the worlds most perfect boat. Capable of ferrying up to 4 adults, the boats ergonomic seats promote pure relaxation while the 700-watt electric motor moves the craft silently through the water at a cruising speed of 5 mph.

The motor is powered by four deep cycle batteries that are constantly recharged by the sun during daylight hourseven when it is overcast. Because the batteries hold up to a 6-hour charge, the boat can be used at night as well; for extended nighttime operation the batteries can be recharged from an outside source.

With its fiberglass hull and powder-coated aluminum superstructure that holds th e solar panel, the boat is completely maintenance-free and 100% environmentally clean, and can navigate shallow waters, thanks to its 1-foot draught.

The only problem is that the weather changes quickly on the water. You could be stuck if the sun went away.

This is very ideal solar power sea boat for Maldives Resorts islands.

@Selene: It says quite clearly that the battery holds a 6-hour charge. I imagine it would be difficult to get stranded anywhere unless you couldn’t read a fuel gauge.

Yes, Dick, that’s true that it has a six hour charge, but if a headwind got up you’d have a difficult time getting in to land, especially with that solar array acting like a giant sail. 5 mpg isn’t that fast. It’s about a 1 horsepower motor there. Best to only operate this craft in very protected waters. Swimming pools, bath tubs and the like.

The 5mph is the problem. Coastal waters regularly have currents that exceed 5mph. That doesn’t even consider wind speeds. This would be nice for a small lake or pond.
